The Editrice Franco Filippi Bookshop in Venice
Franco Filippi is a worthy successor to his father, Luciano Filippi, a scholarly publisher who left us many essential works on the history of Venice.Luckily for us, his son Franco is as passionate about Venice as his father was.
And he continues to put his passion and his great erudition at the service of all lovers of Venice, of all those who are as attracted by the soul of Venice as by its beautiful stones.
Franco Filippi is still a bookseller-publisher of the kind that unfortunately almost no longer exists... He is a researcher, an expert on the history of Venice, specialising in particular in the 16th Venetian century, more precisely the period from 1470 to 1600.
And as a publisher, it is obvious that the life and work of Aldo Manuzio, the famous Venetian printer of the 16th century, are also part of his research, as are the painters and humanists of that period, including Erasmus of Rotterdam.
But aside from his impressive erudition on Venice, Franco Filippi is also a particularly charming, thoughtful man, a true lover of books, always happy to share his passion for Venice with his clients and friends.
Most of the books found here are in Italian, although in the field of art you may find a few books in other languages.
But if Italian is not a problem for you, and you are in love with Venice, this is the place to come to find your happiness.
