Carla Accardi “Assedio Rosso n°3” “Verdi Azzurro” “Collisione dei Tempi” Venice Biennale Art Exhibition
The works of Carla Accardi (1924-2014) are exhibited in the central pavilion of the Biennale at the Giardini.
The abstract paintings of this Italian artist manifest her abstract artistic tendencies and her Marxist and feminist activism in the years following the Second World War.
“Assedio Rosso n°3” (1956), Red blockade on a black background, is a lacquered painting on casein and on canvas.
“Verdi azzurro” (1962), is a casein tempera on paper laid on canvas.
Carla Assedi used other supports, notably for “Untitled” (1967), whose luminescent green lines undulate on packaging plastic, sicofoil, a material whose lightness and transparency are enhanced by the wooden slats of the canvas.
