Niki de Saint Phalle « Gwendolyn » Venice Biennale Art Exhibition
“Gwendolyn” by Niki de Saint Phalle (1930-2002 France) is exhibited at the Corderie of the Arsenal in Venice.
“Gwendolyn” exceeds two meters and fifty; here is the first giant “Nanas” (French slang for “chicks”) made by Niki de Saint Phalle, known for her sculptures of women with abundant shapes, kinds of primitive Venus whose breasts, buttocks and belly are inflated like colourful balloons of bright colours.
Niki de Saint Phalle's sculptures displaying these forms developed to the extreme seem happy and proud to live their femininity.
The “Nannas” have become famous to a wide audience since installed in parks or squares.
