Gabriel Chaile Venice Biennale Art Exhibition
Gabriel Chaile was born in 1985 in Argentina; he lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Lisbon, Portugal. His works are exhibited in the Corderie of the Arsenal in Venice.
Gabriel Chaile's sculptures refer to the theory of the “genealogy of forms”.
The five large spherical terracotta ovens with twin fireplaces decorated with human figures evoke the relationship between traditional Argentine vessels and food and community activities and collaboration.
This Argentine artist grew up in San Miguel de Tucuman in a multicultural environment. His works, based on materials, shapes and archetypes inherited from pre-Columbian civilization, were carried out in a symbolic perspective that was both tender and humorous.
Each sculpture represents a person from the artist's family.
Rosaria Liendro represents the artist's maternal grandmother; realized in 2022, it is placed at the centre of the other four also realized in 2022: Pedro Chaile, Jose Pascual Chaile, Irene Duncan, Sebastiana Martinez, represent her parents and paternal grandparents.
