Jana Euler Venice Biennale Art Exhibition
Jana Euler was born in 1982 in Friedberg, Germany, she lives and works in Frankfurt and Brussels. Her works are exhibited in the central pavilion of the Biennale at the Giardini.
In the paintings she presents at the Venice Art Biennale, Jana Euler highlights the eyes and hair to create a feeling of apprehension that plays on some of our phobias.
Whether the hairs of a fly or a human face, the artist paints them in the same way, disordered and aggressive until they become prickly, and no sensation of softness emanates from them.
Likewise, whether it is the eye of a fly or a man, they are glassy, unfathomable, without expression other than the reflection that their shiny surface captures and sends us back in a murky way.
The mandibles of his flies are as disturbing as his deformations of the human body in his painting “Venice Void”, where the void is ready to engulf us.
Jana Euler created her sculpture “Great White Fear” on this same theme of uncontrolled fear.
She placed dozens of sharks in an upright position with their mouths wide open, all ready to swallow us, their number and their repetition taking away any hope of being able to escape them.
