Giorgio de Chirico at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice
Giorgio de Chirico was born in Greece in 1888.
It was in Athens that he began to take evening classes in nude drawing.
He completed his artistic training in Munich in 1906, then in Milan in 1909, in Florence in 1910 and finishing in Paris in 1911.
There he met Guillaume Apollinaire, Constantin Brancusi, and Max Jacob.
Three of his paintings dating back to that time, painted between 1913 and 1916, are on display at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum:
“The Nostalgia of the Poet”, “The Gentle Afternoon” and “The Red Tower”.
