Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí y Domenech was born in Catalonia, in Figueras, on May 11, 1904.He studied art in 1921 at the Real Academia de Bella Artes de San Fernando in Madrid.
This is where Salvador Dalí met Luis Buñuel and Federico Garcia Lorca, who will become his friends.
His first solo exhibition took place in 1925 at Galerie Dalmau in Barcelona.
In 1926, Salvador Dalí was sent back from the Academy of Arts and then went to Paris, where he met Pablo Picasso.
In 1928 he collaborated with Luis Buñuel for his film “An Andalusian Dog”.
Salvador Dalí then produced numerous surrealist illustrations for surrealist writers and poets.
Dalí joined the Surrealist group in 1929 and was... excluded in 1934.
He made a solo exhibition at Galerie Julien Levy in New York in 1933.
In the late 1930s, Salvador Dalí made several trips to Italy to study masters of the 16th and 17th centuries.
His first works containing religious subjects date from the period 1948-1949.
Salvador Dalí died in his hometown of Figueras on January 23, 1989.
