Anthea Hamilton Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition
Anthea Hamilton was born in 1978 in Great Britain. She lives and works in London.
Anthea Hamilton's work takes us into a half vintage world, half fashion, half popular, reminiscent of the design of the 1960s and 70s, in which she structurally redefines everyday objects by adding original shapes and colours.
His fly sofa “Mama Moth Sofa” is a perfect example of this, as if we could put this sofa in wild nature in which it would disappear thanks to its camouflage outfit.
Conversely, the same sofa, taken out of its “natural” environment, in this white room in the central Giardini pavilion at the Venice Art Biennale, acquires a power.
This presence goes far beyond that of a simple sofa.
